I have acquired myself a new (old) bedside table. I don't love it in it's current condition. What would you do with it? Leave it? Change the handle? Re-paint the whole thing?? All suggestions (and links!) most welcome. Thanks! x
I'd paint it white, but you probably already know that :) Is it solid wood? If it is, it might be nice sanded and waxed. I'd do a different handle too but not sure what kind, they're all pretty much the same from bunnings, etc. Maybe anthropologie?
I would probably paint it white and put a new handle on it too. Have you seen the before and afters on Design Sponge? Might give you some inspiration. :)
No advice here.. I LOVE it exactly how it is. So much so that I'm going to pretend I didn't see the comments about painting it, because it makes me cringe just thinking about covering up that lovely wood!
It's sur has good bones, I would paint it too- is itfor your room? White would be my first choice but a nice pop of colour would be great too. Keep the handle, it is so specific to the era and I think it is such a shame that everyone is ditching them. It would pop quite nicely on a solid colour. :)
I'm totally addicted to painting furntiure at the moment- this might be the push I neecd to get around to posting some of it! I wouldn't paint it white I would paint it pink! or purple! or lime green! or grey! or some other fun accent colour to go with the room! Handles can look really good spray painted (grey cabinet against pink wall with pink hardware), but I'm yet to drag myself to a street store with a good selection of spray paint colours.
I quite like it as is - but also do love white furniture. We have a real mix of both natural wood and white furniture in our house. If you do choose to paint and need a new handle/knob I would suggest checking out Redcurrant... I got some gorgeous knobs from there for a project I'm planning for my daughter's drawers.
I'm sorry to say that I'm with Rhiannon. I love it as is. but seeing as you don't, maybe just a switcheroo of the drawer knob? it really would be a shame to paint over that lovely wood.
Don't paint it! That lovely wood. I would strip any varnish off it by sanding it and then just give it an oil with some danish oil. And a new handle if you want something a little less ornate.
Oh poor Rhiannon! Now I feel bad about all the furniture I've 'whited'... Having said that, I reckon paint it! You could go with white, or one of your favourite colours (I'd definitely be thinking about yellow)... And I agree with Allana, keep the handle! Maybe you could paint that too, a different colour though... Like, white cabinet, yellow handle, or vice versa...
What about leave it unpainted and take the handle off and just cut a circular hole to pull draw out with? I'm 50/50 either way paint or leave (I'm assuming it's solid timber, not veneer, if it's not solid I would probably paint it.)
i would change the handle and soo what you think. the wood looks so pretty so it would be a shame to hide it but if you don't like it after the handle change, go for painting it!

Awesome! I love that there's only one opening draw! I think if I was to change it I would just stain it darker

I too would paint. i am loving painted things right now, And I would change the handle

It looks like it's veneered to me so I'd paint it and change the handle to a lovely glass one.
Totally with Rhiannon. Maybe give it to her ;)
